CO2 Ablative LASER
When it comes to laser resurfacing, we choose technology with the strongest clinical credibility and the greatest precision—this is why we invest in DEKA. The SmartXide CO₂ laser enables highly customisable treatments, allowing us to adjust ablation depth, spacing and energy delivery to tailor results to each patient’s needs. It also supports site-specific resurfacing, meaning we can accurately target delicate or high-impact areas such as the eyes or mouth, or focus only where improvement is needed.
A further advantage is the option to combine CO₂ resurfacing with integrated radiofrequency, where appropriate, to support skin tightening alongside texture refinement—helping deliver comprehensive rejuvenation in a single treatment pathway. This versatility, control and performance is exactly why we use the SmartXide CO₂ laser by DEKA (in partnership with Lynton)—a platform that reflects Clinic M’s commitment to evidence-based, high-investment, hospital-grade care.

Co2 Ablation Post Operative Instructions.
CO₂ laser resurfacing is a gold-standard treatment used by many leading dermatologists and plastic surgeons because it can precisely renew the skin, improve scarring, and visibly reduce signs of ageing. Its unique wavelength targets water within the skin, allowing controlled removal of damaged tissue with minimal collateral injury, while fractional delivery creates micro-channels that stimulate robust collagen and elastin remodelling—often achieving more noticeable improvements than treatments such as microneedling, particularly for deeper lines, laxity, texture and acne scarring. Using advanced scanning technology, we can customise depth, density and treatment zones (for example, full face, periorbital area, or mouth) to create a bespoke plan and a predictable healing response, with collagen renewal continuing for up to six months after treatment. CoolPeel is a lighter, “baby” version of CO₂ resurfacing—designed to refresh texture, pores and early sun damage with less downtime—while fully ablative resurfacing delivers the most dramatic tightening and resurfacing results, typically requiring a longer recovery period. At Clinic M, we use the SmartXide CO₂platform by DEKA to deliver hospital-grade precision and control, and we support outcomes with structured aftercare and evidence-based skin recovery protocols to optimise healing, comfort and long-term results.
The DEKA SmartXide CO₂ laser can also be used as a highly precise minor surgical ablative pen, allowing expert removal of benign moles, lumps and bumps with exceptional control. Its focused CO₂ wavelength precisely vaporises water-rich tissue while simultaneously coagulating small vessels, which supports accuracy, reduced bleeding and optimal visualisation throughout the procedure. This makes it particularly effective for treating sebaceous hyperplasia, seborrhoeic keratoses, age spots and skin tags, delivering clean lesion removal with minimal surrounding tissue disruption. Performed by experienced clinicians within a structured clinical pathway, this approach offers a refined, controlled alternative to traditional excision for appropriate lesions, with excellent cosmetic outcomes and predictable healing.
Before treatment, your lesion will be carefully assessed to ensure it is suitable for laser removal. On the day, the area is cleansed and numbed with local anaesthetic to keep you comfortable. The CO₂ laser is then used with pinpoint precision to gently remove the lesion layer by layer. The procedure is usually quick, with minimal bleeding due to the laser’s sealing effect on small vessels. Afterwards, you can expect a small superficial wound similar to a graze, which will form a light crust and heal over 1–2 weeks depending on the size and location. Mild redness or pinkness can persist for a few weeks as the skin remodels. We provide clear aftercare instructions to support optimal healing, and most patients return to normal daily activities immediately or within a day.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the best facial for me?
At Clinic M, we use an advanced Skin Analyser to assess your skin in detail before recommending any treatment. This high-level skin analysis helps us understand your unique skin needs—such as hydration levels, texture, pigmentation, redness, pores, sun damage and early signs of ageing—so we can match you with the most effective, results-driven option for your goals. Rather than relying on guesswork, our process is expert-led, evidence-informed and fully personalised, ensuring your skin treatment plan is educated, measured and tailored to you—whether you’re considering laser rejuvenation, injectables, medical-grade skincare or collagen-stimulating treatments.
Is there a standard ‘go to’ facial?
Yes. Absolutely. The Coolpeel, without a doubt. It works. It is the best resurfacing tool any practitioner can have. It can resurface the skin from little to fully ablative, its versatile but amazingly effective and results are an absolute.
The workhorse facial is the Nd YAG Laser genesis facial. This is something that should be done regularly, works at a cellular level to keep the skin turnover neatly at 6 weeks. It’s gentle, no downtime and works.
The Nd:YAG Laser Genesis Facial is an evidence-based, results-driven “workhorse” treatment designed to improve overall skin quality with minimal downtime. Using gentle, controlled laser energy, this advanced laser facial stimulates collagen production, helping to soften fine lines, refine pores and improve skin texture over time. It is particularly effective for reducing facial redness, broken capillaries, uneven tone and early signs of ageing, making it an excellent choice for patients with rosacea-prone or sensitive skin. Often described as a “glow treatment,” Laser Genesis also boosts circulation and promotes a clearer, brighter complexion, leaving the skin looking fresher, smoother and healthier. At Clinic M, we tailor your Laser Genesis plan to your skin analysis and goals, creating a personalised programme for long-term skin rejuvenation and visible collagen renewal.
What is the difference between Hydrafacial and Diamond Glow?
HydraFacial and DiamondGlow are both advanced “cleanse–exfoliate–extract–infuse” treatments, but they use different technology to resurface the skin. HydraFacial uses a patented Vortex-Fusion™ system with a spiral tip and vacuum to cleanse, exfoliate, extract and infuse the skin in one treatment.
DiamondGlow (Dermalinfusion)—the treatment we offer—uses a diamond-tipped wand to provide true, controlled diamond dermabrasion while it simultaneously extracts debris and infuses SkinMedica® Pro-Infusion Serums into freshly resurfaced skin
What is the best acne facial?
Acne facials depend on the type of Acne and the reasons for it. Visit the Acne page on the website to understand more about Acne and why consultation is important.
How often would you advise getting a facial?
Skin cell turnover is every 6 weeks therefore depending on how good you want the skin to look you need to be doing ‘something’ effective every 6 weeks. Normally, I suggest every two skin cycles on people who have things well under control and are in a good basic skincare package; it lengthens the time between facials. Retinol and growth factors with anti pollution SPF is a must..but that is another subject!
What is your most popular treatment?
Coolpeel by a country mile. It is just fantastic, followed by the DG and Laser Genesis. Another big one is a photofacial to deal with thread veins and pigment. It is a winner and again, hugely instant visible results. This facial needs to be maintained with creams to suppress pigment but, once you have had one, you won’t need another for a whole year.
